In My Own Words
In January 2025 I had the honor of being appointed to the School Committee for Ward 2. As a member of the budget and properties subcommittee I have worked hard to understand the complex school and city budget issues.
During the April 10 School Committee meeting I made the winning motion to support the “Strong Budget,” the only budget presented that would allow our schools to recover from the devastating previous cuts and create a viable path forward.
Before I made the motion I said: “I understand that implementing the Strong Budget will require a re-thinking of the City’s current budgeting priorities and strategies and will require the work of collaboration and innovation amongst all of us."
“I challenge the binary that has been created that meeting the needs of children and families will weaken our city. On the contrary, I believe that it is only when we strengthen our schools that our city will continue to thrive.”
